Positive Dog Training

AKC Canine Good Citizen Classes

The AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Program has become a much sought after certification for many dog owners. Designed to reward dogs who show good manners in and around the community, the CGC Program emphasizes the need for responsible owners and basic manners for dogs. Upon passing the CGC evaluation, all dogs receive an official AKC certificate. To learn more about the Canine Good Citizen Program visit: www.akc.org, click here.

For anyone looking to take the CGC test, SDTC provides an 7 week program designed to prepare both dog and handler for the evaluation. We will spend 6 weeks training through each of the 10 test items and on week 7, each handler/dog team will be invited to take the test to earn the CGC title. If additional training is needed before taking the test, I will assist you in further preparing and when you and your dog are ready, we will schedule the evaluation.

It is recommended that dogs have gone through a basic manners course prior to taking the CGC prep course. This is a semi-private program with only 3 dogs per class.
